Stockport named one of the best places to sell a property
Stockport has been named one of the best places in England and Wales to sell a property.
The list, compiled by Home.co.uk and Quick Move Now, ranks the ten best and worst places to sell a property based on how long properties in the area typically spend on the market. Stockport came in joint sixth position, alongside Norwich and Middlesbrough, with a typical time on market of just 38 days.
Best places to sell a property:
Danny Luke, managing director of Quick Move Now, said: “Stockport’s property market is really strong at the moment. Properties are in high demand and are selling quickly. We’ve also seen significant price rises over the last year, with average asking prices for properties in the area increasing from £280,000 to £308,000. If you have a property in the area and are considering selling, now is definitely a great time to do it.
“All across the UK, we’ve seen an increase in demand for properties and lower time on market. This time last year, the typical time on market for the whole of England and Wales was 113 days. Now it stands at just 55 days.
“How long the market will remain this strong is challenging to predict. There have been many claims over the last two years that the property market is heading for an imminent crash, but the strength of demand and a shortage of properties becoming available has kept the market buoyant. Will the
rise in interest rates and current ‘cost of living’ crisis slow or even halt market growth? Only time will tell.”
