Ways to reduce stress this summer
While summer is often one of the most fun seasons of the year, it can often be one of the most stressful too.
With more social events to attend and hot weather to adjust to, there are lots of things to think about which can sometimes take away from the fun. The following tips will help you to prepare and have the best summer ever.
Not only are these handy for this year but are habits that you can use year after year, making your summers more enjoyable.
Holiday
Many of us dream of a summer holiday all year long but the planning process can often be very stressful. From deciding where to go, to planning the logistics and itinerary, there is a lot to consider.
If possible, plan your holiday far in advance to allow more time to look forward to it, rather than stressing over it. This may even mean booking it as far as a year in advance. If you find organising a holiday stressful, it can be beneficial to book onto a pre-arranged trip. This could include an adventurous Egypt river cruise or a group skiing holiday. This takes away a considerable amount of stress and leaves you more opportunities for getting both prepared and excited.
Stock up in advance
There is a whole range of things that you may need or want to have in summer. Stocking up on these in advance is a good way to reduce stress and ensure you are always prepared. This could include ice lollies in the freezer or a stash of sun cream for warmer days.
Think about what you are likely to need during the summer months and buy as much as you can ahead of time. It is always handy to keep some sausages in the freezer, making you BBQ ready at the drop of a hat.
Leave time for spontaneity
Summer is the perfect time for spontaneous fun. However, it can be easy to book up all your spare time, leaving you no opportunity for these types of adventures. If possible, keep a few evenings or entire weekends free to allow time to enjoy last-minute plans, which sometimes create the best memories of all.
As well as this, it is handy to reflect on previous summers and consider what you did not get the chance to do and what you would like to make time for this year.
Capsule wardrobe
With so many social occasions to attend, and potential hot climates to deal with, planning what to wear can often take away from the fun. A guaranteed way to avoid this is to build yourself a capsule wardrobe. This is a collection of clothing that can all be worn seamlessly together.
This will work to your advantage by allowing you to collate clothing that you can wear for all occasions from BBQs to festivals.
