Organise dedicated PPE storage areas with suitable hooks, lockers, and shelves to facilitate tidy storage. PPE that is stored correctly is less likely to sustain accident damage. 

Regular Replacement of Worn PPE 

Over time, the materials and components of PPE will deteriorate with use. Follow manufacturers’ guidelines on replacing worn or expired items. Look out for: 

• Erosion of gloves, sleeves, and aprons used frequently around abrasive or corrosive materials 
• Helmets and other hard gear showing cracks or irreparable dents  
• Gaskets and seals in respirators that lose elasticity and effectiveness 
• Eye protection with severe scratches obscuring vision  
• Fire coats or chemical suits with worn, thinning fabric
