Dave Spikey announces home show in Bolton

Bolton’s very own homegrown comedian, Dave Spikey, has announced a one-off show at the town’s Albert Halls Theatre on 2nd November. The show is part of his 30th anniversary ‘Juggling on a Motorbike’ tour, celebrating three decades in the comedy business. From Chief Biomedical Scientist in the NHS to a glittering career in comedy both as a writer and a performer, Spikey is still one of the best-loved acts in the North-West today.

Are you fanatical about food? If so, you’ll be pleased to know that those loveable hairy rogues, the Hairy Bikers, are visiting Salford’s Lowry Theatre as part of their nationwide tour on 10th March 2019. ‘An Evening With The Hairy Bikers’ will consist of plenty of cooking and culinary conversation, with the down-to-earth Geordies having travelled the world together for over two decades in search of magnificent food and contemporary takes on classic favourites.

Wythenshawe welcomes a new bingo hall in town

Those to the south of Manchester city centre and with a penchant for a chance to win cash prizes and enjoy a good old-fashioned chin-wag with friends will be pleased to hear the opening of a new bingo hall in Wythenshawe. The Buzz Bingo venue is now open seven days a week, offering a range of local, regional and nationwide bingo games. Located on Rowlandsway within the Civic Centre, it is well-placed to become a firm favourite among the local Wythenshawe community.

English Touring Theatre to bring Shakespeare’s Othello to Oldham

Shakespeare enthusiasts in the Oldham area will be delighted to hear that a nationwide tour from the English Touring Theatre, the Oxford Playhouse and Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory is due to roll into Oldham’s Coliseum Theatre at the end of October. Othello is the play on offer, which is one of Shakespeare’s most contemporary plays, penned during his ‘great tragic’ era, and was first performed in November 1604.

Globally-acclaimed artist, Jai Chuhan has unveiled an exciting new art exhibition at Gallery Oldham. ‘Refuge’ involves a collection of Chuhan’s latest work that has remained true to her general roots of demonstrating psychological themes of desolation, conflict, love and death. As a self-labelled “transcultural” artist, Chuhan is an Indian-born British artist whose works have been exhibited globally as far afield as China and Singapore. There is a free event on Saturday 13th October between 2-4pm at Gallery Oldham, celebrating the launch of Chuhan’s Refuge Exhibition.
