Well-known film star spotted filming 1980s motorbike scene in Manchester’s Northern Quarter

A well-known film star was seen filming a motorbike scene in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on Sunday, 29 September.

Film crews were present on Lever Street in the city centre, along with British actor Sean Bean.

Bean, recognised for his roles in productions such as The Lord of the Rings and GoldenEye, was photographed wearing a blue and black biker outfit as he rode a motorbike during filming.

It is believed Bean, originally from Sheffield, was working on a production titled ‘Avelyn’. He was spotted putting on a helmet outside the Flok bar on Stevenson Square.

Sean Bean's television credits include the BBC anthology series Accused, Game of Thrones, and the ITV historical drama series Henry VIII.

The current project is believed to be set in the 1980s, as several vintage sports cars were also seen parked along Lever Street, with filming later taking place near Piccadilly.

This appearance comes only days after Bean was seen filming in Warrington. He and the production crew were photographed outside a property on Pickering Crescent in Thelwall.

In 2025, Bean is expected to appear in the upcoming film Rogue Trooper and a television series set in Liverpool titled This City is Ours.
