Dance for Sight Manchester 2020

'Dance for Sight' has announced the line-up for its inaugural event. Hosted by visually impaired DJ Laura Jones, the party will take the shape of a night of forward thinking electronic music, dancing and fundraising for the charity 'Fight for Sight'.

The line-up is headlined by Burnski, the original house music alias name for Middlesbrough producer James Burnham. As well as running one of the UK’s bestselling vinyl label, Constant Sound, Burnham lays claim to a variety of different aliases including Instinct, his UK garage act and vinyl label which featured prominently in Resident Advisor’s Tracks of the Year feature for 2019 and James Solace, the moniker currently blazing a trail with releases on labels such as Hot Creations, Knee Deep in Sound and Last Night On Earth.

Laura Jones sprang to prominence as a DJ and producer in 2011 and has spent the bulk of the decade touring the world and playing the world’s key dance music parties while dealing with the progression of Stargardt’s disease. She was diagnosed in 2008 and although there is currently no cure, like many eye diseases, global research initiatives are thought to be on the tipping point of providing breakthrough solutions.

As well as releasing for various high profile electronic music labels over the years as well as her own label Sensoramic, Jones has become a cheerleader for disability issues in dance music and interviewed by a variety of news brands such as ITN, Red Bull, Vice, Marie Claire, Mixmag and DJ Mag.

Dance for Sight was an idea conceived by Laura Jones and visual artist Mikey Brain, who is best known for his iconic artwork for dance music label Hot Creations. Brain is the latest in a long line of friends of Jones to run the London Marathon in aid of the eye disability charity, Fight for Sight.

Eight of Laura’s friends have run the London marathon since 2014 raising a staggering £37,000 to date for the charity.

The line-up also features:

  • V-RSION (The Nothing Special/Constant Sound)
  • Tom Craven (Evolve/Basement Wax)
  • Nikol & Joe Howey (Mass, Leeds)
  • Jonny Wren (Below/Tpot)
  • Emma (world debut)
