Developer chosen for £500m Wythenshawe town centre redevelopment
The £500 million regeneration of Wythenshawe's town centre in Manchester, hailed as one of the largest urban renewal projects in the country, has taken a significant step forward with the appointment of private construction firm Muse.
The developer will collaborate with Manchester City Council to transform the 1970s-built town centre, bringing over 1,700 new homes to the area.
Muse, known for its work on similar redevelopment projects in Salford, Oldham, and Stockport, will lead the extensive redevelopment.
The project aims to revitalise Wythenshawe through the creation of new public squares, shops, commercial spaces, and cultural and community buildings.
Key sites, including a former Co-Op department store, are set to be reimagined as part of the ambitious plan.
The redevelopment will focus on both preserving Wythenshawe's unique character and driving economic growth, offering new opportunities for residents and businesses alike.
